Being labeled as a new promise for future heavy Music from the beginning, Arma Gathas suprised the scene in late 2009 with their line up featuring (ex-) members of Cataract, Born From Pain, Mine, Machine Made God, Cornelius and Disloyal. They exploded onto the scene with their bludgeoning debut record “Dead To This World” which came out on Metal Blade in april of 2010.
Like most bands, Arma Gathas started out as an idea. A concept Simon was working on during his last years in Cataract. In early 2009 he decided to ask close friend Ché (ex- Born From Pain) to do vocals for his project and the idea turned into a band real quick with the addition of Marc (Machine Made God and ex- Cornelius) as the lead guitarist and Max (ex Disloyal) on drums. The international outfit was ready to write songs and unleash their frustration on to the World. With influences ranging from old school death metal, trash metal, hardcore, punk and industrial, this band wasn’t going to deny their past, nor were they going to ignore the dark and bleak future when reading the lyrics to the songs. It is their own view on how hard and heavy Music should sound like. No limitations, no boundaries, no holds barred..
Having written over 20 songs the band decided to take a risk, and recorded their debut concept album without being signed to a label in October and November of 2009. Being a DIY band they chose to work with close friend Sky Hoff in the Barracs Studios, who worked with Caliban amongst others in the past. While mastering was done by the legendary Alan Douches (Obituary, Mastodon and Despised Icon) in cooperation with Simon, this gave the record the finishing touch. The result is a unique, bombastic, fresh and authentic record. To top it off the lay-out was done by Thomas Ewerhart (Brainstorm, Amon Amarth) who was inspired by the lyrics and concept when designing the art work.

With this heavy weight record under their belts, the band eventually decided to sign to Metal Blade Records Worldwide, who showed interest in the band in an early stage already. The record was released on 23rd of April of 2010 world wide. The much talked about record is an early highlight of 2010.
Alex “Lahnsteiner” Hartel was the missing piece within the band. In early 2010 the bassist was added to the ranks and the five piece powerhouse was ready to hit the stage.
Tightness, heaviness, aggression and energy are words which come to mind when witnessing an Arma Gathas show. Having played shows with the bigger names in hard and heavy music such as Heaven Shall Burn, As I Lay Dying, Job For A Cowboy, Bleeding Through, Cephalic Carnage and Maroon, The Sorrow, Tryptikon, The Ocean, No Turning Back, Arkangel, Nasty, this bulldozer tells us they’re a driving, destructive force ready to take on the World. They’re here to stay until the World is left behind in ruins and ash, and long after that as well. In a godforsaken World they hold on to what’s dear to them: their passion for Music.
